New Bloompapers: Famous Faces!

We’re not saying that bloompapers has in any way been lacking in glamour – but with the launch of these fabulous new Hollywood faces murals we have finally worked out what was missing from the bloompapers website!  Yes bloomies, a little bit of Brad, a splash of Brigitte and a smattering of Clint was just what we were needing!  Have a look at our new range of murals featuring the legends of the silver screen and the masters of jazz and let your imagination fly!  There truly is no limit to what you can have on your walls!

Reaparecen los cojines!

De repente nos hemos dado cuenta de la cantidad de variedad de cojines que hay en el mercado, creemos que es porque estamos deseosos de coger vacaciones y tumbarnos durante un buen rato sin tener nada que hacer. No son cojines con cortinas a juego, ni de terciopelo, ni con borlas de lana….Estos cojines son básicamente para colocar en medio del sofá (o de la hamaca!) y ¡dejar que lo llenen de vida! En especial nos encantan estos estampados de Inhabit’s designs una empresa americana; y es que encima están hechos de material reciclado!

IguapopGallery: fashion shop&art gallery!

We are very lucky living in Barcelona with a wealth of art and design inspiration on our doorstep and we love it when we come across new exhibitions, particularly when it’s something just that little bit different!  Iguapop is a gallery which opened in2003 inthe Gothic quarter of the city and since then it has been showcasing some incredible talent including that of Catalina Estrada whose work is super original and would look fabulous in contemporary setting.  All of the artists sway towards a more urban style which is why we love it so much – in bloompapers we have an amazing display of urban art too done by very talented artists!  Aren’t we just spoilt for choice?!

 En uno de esos paseos por la maravillosa ciudad antigua de Barcelona, pasando del barrio gótico, al moderno y renovado barrio del Borne, dirigiendo nuestros pasos hacia el tranquilo parque de la ciudadela, nos encontramos con un espacio que nos sorprende: la tienda de moda y galería de arte Iguapop.  Esta gallería/tienda fue inaugurada en 2003, y desde ese momento no han dejado de pasar artistas increíbles, a nosotros nos gustaría destacar ala artista Catalina Estrada de la cual os sonarán trabajos cómo el que hizo para Coca-cola, pero no menospreciar a la cantidad de buenos artistas que han pasado porla galería. Todos crean arte urbano ya que es una de la tendencias que pegan más fuerte en el arte popular, pero también en la decoración de paredes, y sino echar un vistazo a bloompapers en su apartado de imágenes o artistas, animaros a dar un toque de arte urbano a vuestros espacios!

Here at bloompapers we’ve discovered a new website which is just full of fabulous inspiration for your home!  Pinterest.com is an image based blogging tool where you can post images of literally anything that catches your eye and share it with others, simply by listing the source of the image.  There are loads of sections to be inspired by, whether you’re a budding chef, a bride-to-be or a techophile, but here at bloompapers we have fallen totally in love with the Home + Furniture section.  The sheer volume of people posting images means there are a multitude of styles and designs, so if you’re having a creative meltdown (it happens to the best of us!) look no further!  Our favourite?  This extremely fabulous clock! 

 En Bloompapers hemos descubierto Pinterest.com un catálogo social, para poder seguir a gente con verdadero gusto; no sólo puedes coger ideas para que comprar o que increíbles lugares visitar en tus vacaciones,  tu también puedes postear cualquier imagen y compartirla con los demás. La gente que conoce este catálogo social se convierte en adicta a él!  Deciden cual es el mejor regalo para un cumpleaños, que recogido les queda mejor para la próxima boda, saborear un plato nuevo gracias a una nueva receta…pero el apartado que mas nos gusta a nosotros es el de Home+Furniture. Puedes descubrir que es lo que se lleva en las casa con más estilo; encontraréis infinidad de tendencias, hay multitud de estilos y diseños diferentes, así que si estáis pasando por una crisis de creatividad, no dudéis en fisgonear un poco que seguro que os inspiran muchas ideas! ¿Queréis saber nuestro favorito? ¡Este increíble reloj!

Over the past few months we’ve given you a few ideas about how to use household waste to make fun and useful items.  Well how about this for inspiration?!  We came across artlantique.com, an inspiring project which uses wood from the fishing boats used off the east coast of Africa to make beautiful items of furniture.   They purchase the wood of old boats from the fishermen and take them to the local carpentry workshops to transform it into amazing looking chairs, tables and bookshelves.  The process provides sustainability in the region, re-uses materials which would otherwise have been thrown away and more importantly a source of  income for the local people.  The result is spectacular; rustic and durable furniture which helps with an important social cause. En nuestro blog hemos hecho algún que otro post hablando de reciclage, pero lo que os enseñamos en este nuevo post va más allá del reciclage; es Artlantique.com, son los creadores de muebles reciclados a partir de la madera de las piraguas antiguas que utilizan los pescadores del oeste de África. Compran, de manera lícita, las barcas antiguas a los pescadores y las llevan a los talleres de carpintería situados justo al lado de la playa , allí son transformas en muebles. Los carpinteros son africanos, siendo así conscientes de que la madera de ese barco es mas que madera; ha sido durante años la fuente de ingresos de una familia con pocos recursos. El resultado es espectacular; muebles rústicos, impregnados de esa colorida y alegre esencia africana. Además de obtener unos muebles realmente bonitos, contribuyen en una causa social muy importante. A touch of NY style

While perusing the internet for interesting design websites, we came across the fabulous work of NY graphic designer, Aimee Wilder.  Her retro style really captured our imagination and we love that she uses really abstract designs from robots to pigeons and ever the old fashioned cassette tapes.  She works with a wide range of materials, from home textiles and accessories to fashion and print and even has a great range of wallpapers.  Then we saw that she had designed a range of footwear and bags for Vans and we fell in love!  How fun are these pigeon covered shoes?!

Mientras leíamos sitios interesantes de diseño  en Internet, nos encontramos con la fabulosa trayectoria de la diseñadora gráfica neoyorquina, Aimee Wilder. Su estilo retro,  capturó nuestra atención y nos encantó que utiliza diseños muy abstractos: robots, palomas y las cintas de cassette de antaño. Ella trabaja con una amplia gama de materiales, como textiles para el hogar, accesorios a la moda y estampados e incluso tiene una gran gama de fondos de pantalla. Entonces vimos que había diseñado una gama de calzado para marcas como VANS y sencillamente, nos enamoramos. ¡Que divertidas se ven estos zapatos cubiertos de palomas!
