Reaparecen los cojines!

De repente nos hemos dado cuenta de la cantidad de variedad de cojines que hay en el mercado, creemos que es porque estamos deseosos de coger vacaciones y tumbarnos durante un buen rato sin tener nada que hacer. No son cojines con cortinas a juego, ni de terciopelo, ni con borlas de lana….Estos cojines son básicamente para colocar en medio del sofá (o de la hamaca!) y ¡dejar que lo llenen de vida! En especial nos encantan estos estampados de Inhabit’s designs una empresa americana; y es que encima están hechos de material reciclado!

IguapopGallery: fashion shop&art gallery!

We are very lucky living in Barcelona with a wealth of art and design inspiration on our doorstep and we love it when we come across new exhibitions, particularly when it’s something just that little bit different!  Iguapop is a gallery which opened in2003 inthe Gothic quarter of the city and since then it has been showcasing some incredible talent including that of Catalina Estrada whose work is super original and would look fabulous in contemporary setting.  All of the artists sway towards a more urban style which is why we love it so much – in bloompapers we have an amazing display of urban art too done by very talented artists!  Aren’t we just spoilt for choice?!

 En uno de esos paseos por la maravillosa ciudad antigua de Barcelona, pasando del barrio gótico, al moderno y renovado barrio del Borne, dirigiendo nuestros pasos hacia el tranquilo parque de la ciudadela, nos encontramos con un espacio que nos sorprende: la tienda de moda y galería de arte Iguapop.  Esta gallería/tienda fue inaugurada en 2003, y desde ese momento no han dejado de pasar artistas increíbles, a nosotros nos gustaría destacar ala artista Catalina Estrada de la cual os sonarán trabajos cómo el que hizo para Coca-cola, pero no menospreciar a la cantidad de buenos artistas que han pasado porla galería. Todos crean arte urbano ya que es una de la tendencias que pegan más fuerte en el arte popular, pero también en la decoración de paredes, y sino echar un vistazo a bloompapers en su apartado de imágenes o artistas, animaros a dar un toque de arte urbano a vuestros espacios!

Rachel Denny: A head above the rest!

Just look at this new artist we’re discovered!  Rachel Denny’s take on the age-old hunting tradition of mounting stag’s heads on the wall really caught our eye; what a makeover she’s given them!  It’s a fabulously stylish way of updating a traditional look (not to mention being a bit more animal friendly) and we just love the colours she’s used.  The re-created animal heads are covered with a lush cashmere knit and certainly make a change from hanging frames or mirrors.  The only drawback?  We’re not sure you can buy them…. anywhere….!  They are featured in galleries and on her website and we’re sure if there is enough demand she may start to sell them, so get on to her people!  Have a look at racheldenny.com/home.html.

Queremos compartir con vosotros las creaciones dela artista Rachel Denny; ella misma destaca su atracción por ‘la naturaleza exuberante en un inesperado ambiente urbano’. Suponemos que es de esa afirmación de donde salen todas sus obras; Rachel es conocida por lo que ella llama ‘trofeos domésticos’. Algunos de estos trofeos domésticos recrean la decoración antigua de hace  años; cabezas de animales disecados en la pared. ¡Pero no os asustéis, en el mundo del arte todo vale! Recrea las formas de diferentes animales y las cubre por ejemplo con un agradable y bonito cachemir. Es importante saber que cada pieza es única, ninguna se repite. 80s Glam!

 

If you don’t already know the fab website trendir.com you must take a look!  We particularly love the section entitled ‘ultra modern’ which has all the latest in interior decor and design for you to feast your eyes on.  It was there that we laid our eyes on the very cool Rocket Design products – what about a wine rack that looks like the knobs on an old fashioned stereo, or a table made out of half a guitar?  Maybe its a bit too risqué for most of us, but for the right kind of person searching that 80s retro look, we can’t think of anything funnier!

A todo el mundo que le guste la decoración debería conocer la  revista tendir.com, en especial la sección de “Ultra  Modern” que tiene lo último en decoración y diseño. A nosotros nos ha llamado la atención los innovadores y divertidos accesorio de decoración de Roket Deign; ¿por que no tener una guitarra cómo soporte para “shots”, un radiocassete cómo estantería o posavasos en forma de CD? Sabemos que a lo mejor es demasiado atrevido, pero para un piso con aire ochenteno y con un  ambiente animado, ¡nos parece perfecto!

A touch of NY style

While perusing the internet for interesting design websites, we came across the fabulous work of NY graphic designer, Aimee Wilder.  Her retro style really captured our imagination and we love that she uses really abstract designs from robots to pigeons and ever the old fashioned cassette tapes.  She works with a wide range of materials, from home textiles and accessories to fashion and print and even has a great range of wallpapers.  Then we saw that she had designed a range of footwear and bags for Vans and we fell in love!  How fun are these pigeon covered shoes?!

Mientras leíamos sitios interesantes de diseño  en Internet, nos encontramos con la fabulosa trayectoria de la diseñadora gráfica neoyorquina, Aimee Wilder. Su estilo retro,  capturó nuestra atención y nos encantó que utiliza diseños muy abstractos: robots, palomas y las cintas de cassette de antaño. Ella trabaja con una amplia gama de materiales, como textiles para el hogar, accesorios a la moda y estampados e incluso tiene una gran gama de fondos de pantalla. Entonces vimos que había diseñado una gama de calzado para marcas como VANS y sencillamente, nos enamoramos. ¡Que divertidas se ven estos zapatos cubiertos de palomas!

Art invades your kitchen appliances
